Stylish Laptop Bags

Would a women's purse count as one piece of carry on baggage?

I am travelling with a toddler & I will have my purse, a diaper bag, a laptop, and the stroller (which I would assume wouldn't count as it goes below with the check in luggage) I'm flying NWA. I believe I am allowed 2 carry on's while flying with a toddler.

  1. I believe it does count as a carry on - I think it is a "personal item" - but check the website for your airline and I'm sure you can get a specific answer there. Why don't you try putting your purse inside the diaper bag when you board? That's what I usually do.
  2. The airlines are very liberal in enforcing the "one carry-on only" rule. The object is to prevent too much luggage in the passenger cab. Most people have a carry-on size bag AND a purse or backpack. Never have I seen any objection to a passenger carrying a purse. The airline will be only too happy to help you take care of your children, and they will want you to be well prepared with all the stuff you need, but why the laptop? Leave it home.
  3. yes it'll count as one. but maybe try and see if you can fit your laptop in the diapser bag... if not use a tote bag and put the diaperbag's contents and laptop in htere. - thenput the diaper bag itself (so you have it for the vacay) in your suitcase. wait herse some info from their site: Carry-on Allowance Be sure to check new requirements from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regarding restrictions to items in carry-on luggage. Visit www.tsa.gov for details. Northwest allows you to carry one piece of luggage on board the aircraft plus a purse or briefcase or laptop computer or small backpack. The carry-on luggage must be of a size and shape to allow for storage in overhead compartments or underneath the seat in front of you. Dimensions: Cannot exceed 45 linear inches (9 inches by 14 inches by 22 inches) more info - http://www.nwa.com/travel/luggage/carryon.html they also have info on travel with kids somewhere on their website too.
  4. i flew overseas alone with a laptop, a roller bag, and a big purse and was okay. you can always shove your laptop into the diaper bag just to get past the ticket check, i usually did that, but they don't seem to care that much. ithink you'll be fine.
  5. Yes, a purse is considered a personal bag and one of your carry ons. Most airlines have a 1+1 rule; one carry on bag and one personal bag. Both laptop bags and purses are considered personal bags, however, you can count one of them as your carry on. If you have purchased a seat for your toddler you are entitled to 1+1 for them. If you haven't purchased a seat and your child is flying as a lap baby (must be under 2 and must show proof of age) most airlines will allow you to carry a diaper bag and not count it as a carry on. If you are unsure of NWA's carry on policy you can check with their website or call customer service. If they will not allow you to take all three items, then condense your purse and diaper bag into one bag. (never check your computer)
